Explore the invisible forces of magnetism as we make objects float and move using some spooky science!

A series of challenges and games will allow children to explore magnetism in a safe and exciting way, while experiencing some mind boggling science.

Learn how magnets repel and attract, what north and south poles are and how we use magnets in everyday life.
Program details:
Run time 1hr15min
Experience activities:

-Together we learn and discuss magnets and magnetism, how they work, and what we can do with them, with an emphasis on properties to demonstrate the power of magnetism.

-The children then work in groups to complete a series of tasks and challenges that allow the children to discover magnets and their properties in an open-ended exploration. From making magnets float, to moving objects without touching them. Here children will also have cases of iron filings to manipulate using various magnets, observing field lines appearing.

-Children are then encouraged to explore the magnets freely at the end of the activities, to learn more about magnets an how they interact with the world around them.

-We wrap up by discussing what the children discovered. Here we will also discuss magnets in everyday life, as well as some of the strongest and biggest magnets around.
Framework Learning outcomes:
-
1.2 Children develop their emerging autonomy, inter-dependence, resilience and sense of agency.
-
2.3 Children become aware of fairness.
-
4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating.
All cleaning up is done by Little Labs, and plastic table covers are supplied when required.
Protective equipment like lab coats are provided however it should be noted there is always a chance some clothing may get dirty (it’s best not to wear that Gucci top, sorry!)
Little Labs will arrive approx. 15 minutes early to set up, and we ask for 15 minutes after the session has ended to pack up.
