Program details:

Running time 1hr15min

Experience activities:

-First children learn all about the time of dinosaurs, the various periods they lived in, and how the world has changed and shifted in the last 250 millions years.

-Together we discuss some favorite and some less known dinosaurs, and how different features helped them to hide or hunt. We will also go over some new discoveries, and debunk some common myths.

-Next, children use a range of equipment to carefully uncover dinosaur fossils in our excavation sites. Children are encouraged to use information from our discussions to hypothesize about what dinosaur the fossils belong to.

-Children are then bought back together to discuss their findings, as well as give children the chance to identify any mystery dinosaur fossils.

-The last of our time is used to discuss what happened to the dinosaurs, and the mass extinction event that happened 65 million years ago. We also look at if any dinosaurs survived, and where we can find these ancient ancestors.

VEYLDF Outcomes:

  • 1.4 Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect.

  • 2.1 Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.

  • 4.4 Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials.

All cleaning up is done by Little Labs, and plastic table covers are supplied when required.

Protective equipment like lab coats are provided however it should be noted there is always a chance some clothing may get dirty (it’s best not to wear that Gucci top, sorry!)

Little Labs will arrive approx. 15 minutes early to set up, and we ask for 15 minutes after the session has ended to pack up.
